Wedding Vows 5

Minister/ Officiant: Who presents this woman to be married to this man?

Let us bow our heads in prayer. Dearly Beloved, We are gathered here on this joyous occasion, and
in the sight of God, to unite these two souls in a sacred and holy covenant. If anyone thinks that
these two should not be married, they shall speak now or forever hold their peace.

First and foremost, Groom and Bride would like me to inform you of what an honor it is to have all of
you here to share this very special day. You have all played a part in their lives, and they are
genuinely grateful for your love and support.

Love is something hard to define, but easy to express because it is the most fundamental emotion in
our lives. Love keeps us grounded, helps us grow, learn and achieve. We go through life searching
for that one person whom we can trust with our heart, to love completely … with one who loves us
with the same voracity, regardless of flaws, faults, or imperfections. A gift like this is priceless and
may come but once in a lifetime. When you fine it, hold onto it and celebrate it’s beauty for all time.

Let us bow our heads in prayer. Oh Lord, bless these two individuals, who today are unified in
marriage before you … give them strength to withstand adversity and the ability to recognize their
good fortunes. Should they ever falter give the faith of an abiding love. Amen.

Groom, Bride entered your life and with her you experience love and happiness, and now will you
have this woman to be your wife? Do you promise to love honor and cherish her? To be a friend? To
share with her willingly and openly your feelings and devotion? And with faith and tenderness to be
her partner all of the days of your life?

Groom:I do.

Bride, Groom entered your life and with him you experience love and happiness, and now will you
have this man to be your husband? Do you promise to love honor and cherish him? To be a friend?
To share with him willingly and openly your feelings and devotion? And with faith and tenderness be
his partner all of the days of your life?

Bride: I do.

Groom, repeat after me: I Groom, take you Bride, to be my friend, my love my wife. I promise to
cherish you in joy and in sorrow, in plenty and in want, for as long as the Lord will allow. I marry you
with all of my heart and all that I have to give, from this day forth. All things begin and end with you.

Bride, repeat after me: I Bride, take you Groom, to be my friend, my love my husband. I promise to
cherish you in joy and in sorrow, in plenty and in want, for as long as the Lord will allow. I marry you
with all of my heart and all that I have to give, from this day forth. All things begin and end with you.

Rings

Marriage consists of many things … appreciation, patience, forgiveness, honesty, devotion,
acceptance, understanding, and respect. The promise that you make to one another allows you to
look in to the future. These rings on your fingers will symbolize eternity. This diamond symbolizes
beauty and richness that love brings to your life. May you cherish these gifts for all time, and may
they grow and mature in all of their glory. For there is no greater joy in life that to love – and to be
loved.

Groom, as you place the ring on Bride’s finger, hold it in place and repeat after me:

Accept this ring as a sign of my commitment and love. I vow to continue to honor you for all time. As
we were meant to be, like this ring, there is no beginning and no end.

Bride, as you place the ring on Groom’s finger, hold it in place and repeat after me:

Accept this ring as a sign of my commitment and love. I vow to continue to honor you for all time. As
we were meant to be, like this ring, there is no beginning and no end.

From this point on, it will not be your love that sustains your relationship, but your marriage that
sustains your love. For love does not consist of merely gazing into each other’s eyes - but by looking
in the same direction.

Do you Bride take this man as your husband?

With all that I am, with all that I have to give, from this day forward, I marry you.

Do you Groom take this woman as your wife?

With all that I am, with all that I have to give, from this day forward, I marry you.

May the days and years of your lives together be filled with happiness and prosperity, and your love
continue to grow strong … and may the love that you share for one another extend to all those
around you. By the Power vested unto me by the State of Washington, I declare that you are now
husband and wife.

Groom, you may kiss your bride.
